Dr Andrew McBride is a Queensland trained Orthopaedic Surgeon who has completed post-surgical fellowship training in shoulder, elbow and upper limb surgery in Melbourne and France. Dr McBride treats both paediatric and adult patients and has a interest in reconstructive surgery of the shoulder and elbow including arthroscopic shoulder surgery, rotator cuff repair, instability surgery, joint replacement surgery, tendon transfers and ligament repair, nerve decompression surgery and upper limb trauma.
Dr McBride has a strong interest in sports medicine having previously worked as sports physiotherapist for the World Championship Tour for Surfing. As an Orthopaedic surgeon he has ongoing involvement with surfing and many other sporting clubs including Australian Football League (AFL) Teams in Queensland along with professional Rugby Union and Rugby League teams. He works with both professional and amateur athletes from all sporting disciplines and enjoys working with sports physicians, general practitioners, physiotherapists and hand therapists to coordinate multidisciplinary care.
Dr McBride also has a interest in Shoulder Joint Replacement Surgery and Rotator Cuff Surgery for older adults to relieve pain and optimise function in the shoulder for a patient’s lifespan. He travels to Brisbane one day per week where he works as a part of the Upper Limb Surgery Team at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, a tertiary referral centre for complex upper limb conditions and trauma and training centre for international upper limb fellows.
Dr McBride is a Honary Adjunct Associated Professor at Bond University and Senior Teaching Fellow at Griffith University. He is passionate about teaching and has maintained a keen interest in publishing and presenting research to ensure his patients are provided with the most up to date information and treatment for their conditions.
Dr McBride was born in southeast Queensland, is devoted to his wife and three young children. He enjoys an active lifestyle and feels privileged to be able to contribute to the healthcare of the Queensland and Northern New South Wales community.
