Medical Treatment during Palliative Care
The delivery of medical treatment is a vital component in quality Palliative Care. Medical treatment aims to manage the symptoms of your cancer without trying to cure the disease.
Palliative Medical treatment may include:
- Chemotherapy, to slow the spread of your cancer.
- Radiotherapy, to treat pain associated with cancer of the bones.
- Medication to relieve pain, drugs such as Morphine can be given safely over long periods of time.
The team at the John Flynn Cancer Centre will work together, in consultation with you and your family, to assess and deliver whatever medical treatment that is required to maintain your quality of life.
