Dr. David Liu graduated from the University of New South Wales in 1993 and completed his orthopaedic training with the Australian Orthopaedic Association program in 2002.
He was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2003. He subsequently completed fellowships in lower limb arthroplasty and reconstruction at the Nepean Centre for Joint Reconstruction, Sydney, Toronto Western Hospital, Canada and Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, United Kingdom in 2003-2004.
Dr. Liu specialises in othopaedic surgery with interest of the hip and knee, with particular interest in computer navigation and knee balancing. He is involved in both hip and knee prostheses design teams and developed a knee navigation system used in surgery. He has interest in teaching and training and has hosted both internationally and locally trained fellows and Asian surgeon visitations instructing on hip and knee arthroplasty surgery. Dr Liu regularly lectures both locally and internationally, and has been the invited keynote speaker for the Korean Knee Society and Chinese Knee Society. He is active in research with multiple research students under his supervision and numerous publications in peer- reviewed journals.
Dr. Liu is currently a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at John Flynn Private Hospital and Honorary Adjunct Associate Professor at Bond University. Dr. Liu is a member of the Arthroplasty Society of Australia, Scientific Committee of Asia Pacific Arthroplasty Society and Editorial Board of Knee Surgery and Related Research.
